Printer Regions Examples
The concept for Printer regions is to allow customers to choose how each printer is connected to the Datasec API Services. Datasec has API Services located in different Azure / Entra Regions. Our API Services are only used to kick off a Sign-in Process. Once a User has signed into Device then we no longer communicate to our API Services, and we then rely on your Microsoft Account to manage Access.
- Single Region Example 1: Contos Industries has offices all around Australia, therefore since we have one of our API Service located in the Australian Azure Region you would configure your Azure Tenant with One Region, and therefore all printers would be using the same Australia – East Coast API Services to perform the sign-in process.
Single Region Example 2: HireIT Industries is located in the USA, however they have other offices located in Australia and have Staff traveling between offices quite frequently and they would like to enable them to quickly gain access to their OneDrive, Sharepoint, Mailflow etc..
In this scenario the customer has chosen to setup their printers to use One Region for all devices, regardless of their location, therefore they decided to ensure all printers will use the USA-East coast Azure API Region to service the sign-in process.
Multi Region GDPR Example: HireIT Industries is located in the USA, however they have other offices located in Australia and have Staff traveling between offices quite frequently, however they have strict restrictions around Data Sovereignty and IP Whitelisting and decided to setup their printer fleet to use the nearest Azure API Service Region.
In this scenario users that need to travel between offices will be required to re-register their HP Secure Authentication mobile application for the current Azure Region they are visiting. This is as Simple as Resetting the HP Secure Authentication mobile application and then they can re-register their new location by scanning the QRCode on anyone of the Printers.
If your users do not use the HP Secure Authentication Mobile application to sign-in and instead use an NFC Cards, then they will need to register their Card Once only for the Region they sign into.
